Welcome to The Minister's Resource Website
Resources for the Active Minister PDF Print E-mail

Let's face it - the life of a minister is very busy - and often - we never seem to have the time to devote to preparing for weekly services that we should have.  The Internet has become a great resource for planning our services, researching scripture, and finding material and inspiration for our sermons.  Unfortunately, there is so much information available that it is difficult to find everything in one easy place.

That is the goal behind "The Minister's Resource".  We try to bring everything together in one spot.  While this site can't replace prayer and meditation - it certainly can help to reduce the amount of time you spend looking for material.

So thanks for visiting - look around and enjoy!

Upper Room Daily Reflections PDF Print E-mail

Daily Reflections from The Upper Room:

  • — Prayers of Affirmation

Today’s Reflection THE TERM creatures of habit isn’t just a catchy phrase. Its truth is gaining credence in the world of science as well as in our everyday world of observation. As noted, each time we engage a thought, a particular neural pattern deepens. The more frequently a behavior or feeling is repeated, the more likely [...]

  • — A Desire for More

Today’s Reflection SOME SOULS seem better equipped than others to endure a regimen of living. They wake each morning to eggs for breakfast, go to the same job for seventeen years, and come back as the sun sets to the house they left that morning in the same town where they’ve lived, banked, voted and [...]

  • — The Gift of Compassion

Today’s Reflection APPRECIATING LIFE’S GOODNESS does not mean we become Pollyannas who deny life’s difficult realities and opt for superficial platitudes. In our mourning, as we allow God to comfort us, we come to see that others mourn too. The God who weeps with and for us longs for fullness of life for each one [...]

  • — Enough!

Today’s Reflection TIME OUT.That’s enough. No moreof this angry stuff.

  • — Don’t Be Afraid

Today’s Reflection WHAT WOULD YOU SAY is the most frequent command in Scripture? “Be good”? “Be holy”? Or, negatively, “Don’t be immoral”? No. The most frequent command in the Bible is: “Don’t be afraid.” “Fear not.” … The command not to fear is a practical application of a major biblical theme: trusting God. “Don’t be [...]

Mars Hill Sermon Podcasts PDF Print E-mail

Podcasts of Sermons from Mars Hill

  • — Citizens | In Tenderness

You're listening to "In Tenderness" from the recently released "Already Not Yet" EP by Citizens from Mars Hill Church, U-District. For more info, visit marshill.com/music

  • — Apostate in Pergamum: Good Deeds, Bad Doctrine

Pastor Mark preaches on Jesus’ words to the church in Pergamum from the theater on the upper acropolis of the ancient city of Pergamum itself. Jesus encourages them for withstanding physical, political, and spiritual persecution in their city, where Satan’s throne is. However, he rebukes them for their apostate beliefs (false doctrine) and behavior (sexual sin). How could we fall into apostasy?

  • — Best Of: Jesus Sweats Blood

Jesus is in absolute agony, sweating blood, as he prays honestly with the Father. Every sin is like a drop into a cup. We pour the sin in. God, at the end of this life, pours out commensurate wrath. Yet Jesus submits his will to the Father’s; he exchanges places with us on the cross and drinks every single drop of cup of the wrath of God. The cross is where the love of God is most clearly seen.

  • — Persecuted in Smyrna: Faithful No Matter What

Pastor Mark preaches at the church in Smyrna on Jesus’ words—still applicable today—to the church in Smyrna from Revelation 2. Today, Turkey is the least churched nation; still, Jesus tells the church in Smyrna to be encouraged and to endure what he endured (tribulation, poverty, slander, suffering, even death), but not to fear. Pray for Christians and churches where persecution still continues.

  • — Fundamentalist in Ephesus: All Head, No Heart

Pastor Mark preaches on Jesus’ letter to the church in Ephesus from the ancient city of Ephesus itself. Jesus commends the Ephesians for how they serve faithfully, endure hardship, have sound doctrine, and hate heretics, but his big criticism is that they are not very loving. Instead of merely criticizing the Ephesians, we must read Jesus’ words humbly and realize how we could become like them.
